“RESPONSIBLE”
THIS PAST GOOD FRIDAY/EASTER, WE BUILT OUR SERVICES AROUND THE THEME “RESPONSIBLE” – THE IDEA THAT IT WAS OUR SIN, OUR WRONGDOING, OUR ACTIONS THAT PUT JESUS ON THE CROSS. OUR GOOD FRIDAY SERVICE WAS STRUCTURED WITH 10 VIDEOS, ALL BUILT INTO ONE EXTENDED VIDEO SO EACH INDIVIDUAL PIECE PLAYED BACK TO BACK FOR THE ENTIRE SERVICE.
4 of these videos are NARRATIVES (the foundational elements for the Good Friday service). We picked four characters in scripture who would have been around at the time of the crucifixion of Christ and wrote modern-day narratives for their characters, allowing the viewer to put themselves in the place of these characters and see that it was their sin, their actions that put Jesus on the cross. These narratives examine four different responses to Christ –
Peter – the Religious do-gooder
Roman – the Antagonist (assaulted Christ)
Simon – the Apathetic Bystander
Mary – the Devoted Follower
Each narrative automatically transitioned into a music element (4 lyric videos) built as a split-track style video (click/cues left, track right). After the fourth song, there was a short devotional which transitioned into the fifth and final song – another split-track lyric video.
In addition to these elements, there was a 21+ minute intro loop video which played before each service and an Isaiah 53 video which played directly before the first narrative. Back to back, the progression looked like this:
